The app leverages Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and advanced image processing techniques to analyze users' gluteal muscles, providing an in-depth understanding of their development across three key areas: Upper, Middle, and Lower glutes.
The Glute AI app is a prime example of how AI and image processing can revolutionize personal fitness. By providing users with accurate, data-driven insights into their gluteal health and offering personalized workout plans, the app has the potential to become an essential tool for anyone serious about improving their fitness.
To build the app, we tested several AI models and external APIs for body measurement and glute analysis to ensure the system's accuracy and reliability. We evaluated models such as OpenAI GPT-4 Vision, Gemini 1.5 Pro, and LLaMA 3.2 Vision for their ability to detect and measure glute features.
After rigorous testing, we selected the most reliable solution, incorporating the 3D Look API for its superior performance in body measurement.
Users input basic data (height, weight, age) and as per instruction, upload a picture.
The AI analyzes the image and calculates the user's hip, waist, and thigh measurements.
The app creates a percentage-based score for each region of the glutes (Upper, Middle, Lower), as well as an overall Glute Score.
These scores are based on standard/healthy hip measurements, ensuring a data-driven and reliable assessment.
Each day, the app recommends a set of five exercises: 3 targeting the weakest glute region and 2 focusing on the stronger areas.
These targeted exercises are designed to enhance specific regions of the glutes, helping users improve their overall shape.
The app tracks the user's consistency with their workouts and maintains streaks as a motivational tool.
Users can view their progress via glute score comparison, stay engaged, and set goals to push themselves further.

Challenges
During the Proof of Concept (PoC), we tested several AI models (OpenAI GPT-4 Vision, Gemini 1.5 Pro, and LLaMA 3.2 Vision), but the results were inconsistent.
Some models produced varying outcomes even when analyzing the same image, leading to accuracy concerns.
SOLUTIONS
To address this, we used a third-party API for body measurements and developed a custom AI model and fine-tuned it for better performance, ensuring more consistent and reliable results. This approach helped minimize the variability in analysis and improved the accuracy of the glute scoring system.
Challenges
The use of AI models such as OpenAI’s GPT-4 resulted in higher operational costs, especially with large datasets and multiple API calls for image processing.
SOLUTIONS
We optimized the use of tokens and API calls to minimize costs while maintaining accuracy. By refining the workflow and managing API usage efficiently, we ensured that the app could scale without excessive costs.
A popular framework for building cross-platform mobile applications. React Native allowed us to develop the app for both iOS and Android with a single codebase.
PostgreSQL was used to store user data, workout logs, and other critical information, ensuring efficient querying and data integrity.
This API provided the necessary body measurements and was integrated for accurate hip, waist, and thigh measurements.
Used for secure user authentication, allowing users to sign up and log in with their preferred credentials (Google, Facebook, etc.) while maintaining data security.
Used for cloud hosting and scalability, ensuring high performance during traffic spikes.
